CLOSE UP 1: AUDITIONS IN DHAKA!

The Close up 1 audition in Dhaka was the very last round of auditions. Thousands of enthusiastic people flocked to the BIAM auditorium in Eskaton in hope of becoming the next singing sensation of the country. The auditions lasted for 4 days and the turnout surpassed all our expectations! 2 sessions were held everyday and an estimated 1400 participants took part in every session, so the audition judges had their hands full.

The Close-up 1 Chittagong Auditions were held at the Theater Institute of Chittagong amid huge anticipation of the thousands of participants and their relatives and friends. There were 3500 applicants who were called to audition over three days (14, 15 & 16th of July). 2421 singers showed up, all willing to do their best to be the next youth icon of Bangladesh. They all sang their hearts out, without the help of any instruments and many of them were brilliant. The wonderful atmosphere was spoilt only by the fact that we knew most of them would not be able to fulfill their dreams. After a 3 day test, 96 people received the Yes card from our 5 panel judges. They went home with their heads held high, while some of the others dissolved into tears. We left with heavy hearts as well, knowing that the real test would be the day-after.

The Close-up 1 Comilla auditions were held during the 18th and 19th of July at the Q-palace Community Centre. The turnout was very good – 1391 participants showed up during the two days. The audition round judges enjoyed themselves, but were strict about the quality of the singers. Many of the participants sang well, but since their overall performance was not satisfactory for the judges, they were not selected.
At the end of Auditions, 20 performers received the ‘Yes card’ to go on to the selection round. They went home, jubilant and celebrating, among the other tear-stained eyes.

‘Yes card’ to Dhaka / 2nd round - 4 Closeup1 2006 Chittagong Comilla Audition Round CLOSE-UP 1: Khulna UPDATES
 
The Khulna auditions were held at the Tiger garden on KDA Avenue. A lot of people arrived for the auditions – 1773 to be exact. Auditions took place over two days- the 27th on which 26 people were allowed to go on to the selection and on 28th of July, 22 people were given the ‘Yes card’, making a total of 48 participants in the selection round.
Despite having so many contestants at selection, only 7 of them made it past our star judges at the Zia Hall in Khulna. They are coming to Dhaka soon, but first we are going to Rajshahi for the next round of auditions!

CLOSE-UP 1: Faridpur UPDATES
 
1336 people showed up at the Faridpur auditions at the Raffles Inn. The audition rounds took place between the 24th and 25th July. The audition judges decided to give 23 participants the ‘Yes card’ to move on to the selection round. They arrived the next day, the 26th of July at the Party palace in the College Road.. They were scrutinized by our star judges, and 5 of them were given the ‘Yes card’ to come to Dhaka for the 1st round.

CLOSE-UP 1: BARISAL UPDATES
 
The Barisal Auditions took place on the 21st & 22nd of July at the Barisal Club. There were more participants than we expected – 1344 people showed up, waiting in line to show-off their talents. They entered the auditorium one by one and sang without any instruments. Many of the contestants were asked to sing more than one song, as the judges discussed their options among themselves. The auditions went on for the whole of the two days, after which 26 participants were handed the ‘Yes card’ to go on to the selection round.

‘Yes card’ to Dhaka – 6 Close-up1 2006 Khulna,Borisal,Faridpur Audition Round RAJSHAHI AUDITIONS:

The Rajshahi Auditions were held at the on the. A total of 1661 people showed up for the auditions, ever hopeful and willing to sacrifice a lot for their fifteen minutes of fame.
 
The audition judges were pretty liberal this time, choosing a lot of young talent. A total of 54 people moved on to the selection round this time, where our star judges started the hardest part of their job. They narrowed down the 54 participants and finally awarded 8 with the ‘Yes card’ to go on to Dhaka for the second round. We moved to Rangpur, where we hope to see more promising young singers!

RANGPUR REVIEW:

The Rangpur auditions were held during the 2nd – 4th of August at the Porjotan Hotel. 1319 people entered the audition round, each with their hopes high. The different types of singers and performances impressed the audition judges, and 35 lucky ones were picked to advance to the Selection Round. At selection, the test was much harder and the judges deliberated for a long time, before allowing ‘Yes cards’ to 8 contestants. They are getting ready to come to Dhaka, while we move to Bogra for the next round of auditions!

Closeup 1 2006 Rajshahi,Rongpur Audition Round Close Up 1: Sylhet updates

The auditions took place in Sylhet took place amid the beautiful shimmering heat, felt at the top of the hilly areas. We were however, not there to enjoy the weather, but to enjoy some great singing by the young people of Sylhet! 1422 expectant faces stared at us.
Close Up 1: Mymensingh review

We arrived at Mymensingh on the 8th of August for the Close Up 1 auditions and were greeted warmly by the crowd at the Hotel Amir Int. An approximate 1250 people showed up to realize their dreams of becoming stars in the Bangladesh music industry.
BOGRA UPDATES:

The auditions in Bogra were held at the Porjoton Motel between the 5th & 7th of August. The total number of participants at the auditions was more than we expected – 1598 participants. The auditions though were not brilliant and in the end, only 40 contestants were allowed to move to the selection round. At selection, our main judges looked for the very best of performers and could award only 3 participants the ‘Yes card’ to come to Dhaka for the 2nd round. We went on to Mymensingh, and then we’ll be in Dhaka! We can’t wait, and we know you can’t too. See you soon!
